Stats

Figuring out some math using online calculators and formulas.

Averagely have been consuming 2,500-3,250 calories per day. (No wonder I am fat!) I have no idea about my calorie expenditures, as I have never tracked those before.

Current weight 252.
Current BMI is 39 (Morbidly Obese).

(Basal Metabolic Rate) + (Active Metabolic Rate) = (Daily Energy Requirement)

Current BMR is 1,962 calories per day.
Current AMR is 600 calories per day.
Current DER is 2,562 calories per day.

As I understand it, you should not drop much below your BMR so that your metabolism remains powered and your body functions remain healthy.

To maintain weight, I would need approximately 2,562 calories daily. (Which is what I have been doing without knowing it.)

To lose weight, you must create a calorie deficit through cutting calories from food and through excercising. By cutting a net of 500 calories a day you can create a one pound weight loss each week. A single pound of fat is approximately equal to 3,500 calories! Gross!

MyFitnessPal suggests I aim for 1,660 net calories per day. So that's my goal!

Wow. Who knew?

Kudos to you for figuring out your BMR and doing it that way! Most people on MFP are sheep who eat at 1,200 and wonder why their weight loss slows.
